Behind the scenes at the ghd style lounge

Categories: Media

The final ghd style lounge of the year was held in Cape Town on Friday. The campaign (conceived a put together by Atmosphere) mixed online and social network marketing, events and plenty of traditional PR. It basically worked like this. 1: We pitched the events to the whats new/fashion news and events pages of Longlead press (magazines with 3-4 months lead time) in advance of the event. 2: We worked with a stylist and photographer to create a transportable pop-up hair salon and self-portrait ... In The City coverage

Categories: Media

In The City, a relatively new client still of ours was featured in Sunday Times Lifestyle Magazine last weekend. Sean is one of the two co-owners and one of the things we want to do for them is get across the very personal approach that they take to their business (which this profile piece does nicely). I'm just looking at renting an apartment in Buenos Aires for a holiday later in the year so I know from personal experience, seeing that there ... Read More

Nokia Music Skate Almighty

Now this is a fab idea from Nokia. Basically a series of roller disco parties put together by Nokia in the UK called Nokia Music Skate Almighty. It ticks most of the boxes I look for in a good consumer campaign 1: it's novel 2: it tells the story of the product instantly (music on the go) 3: it has some nice extensions that you can use to get decent media coverage 4: it just sounds fun. I actually came across it ... Read More

Recent media coverage for La Motte

Considering the amount of wine brands there are just in South Africa, we believe that PR for them is like the wine making process: a bit of an art. It takes ... Read More

Interesting article on Matthew Buckland's blog about the relationship between print and online advertising. Online Media, Platforms, Innovation and Advertising Matthew mentions what I think one of the biggest opportunities (and threats) for online media: targeting ads contextually (in the way google ads or Facebook does) to make money out of overseas media traffic (which accounts for alot of traffic on most major news sites internationally). Does the online advertisement offer more value, or measurability or better results or more cost saving, compared with traditional ... Read More

16 million people download podcasts from the BBC a month

Categories: Media

I suspected something was up when my mum started downloading podcasts to listen to while she cooks the Sunday roast rather than just turning on Radio 4 (she lives in Wales). Apparently over 16 million podcasts are downloaded from the BBC (by an international audience) every month. Whilst the BBC is a large player undoubtedly, if you consider every one else producing podcasts from media outlets like The Mail & Guardian through to the long tail of individuals (from the wine ...
